PHOTO OF MARTIAN DUNE FIELD 0

This has to be my new favorite picture of Mars.

“The eternal Martian wind blows the heavy sand into dunes, and you can see the hummocks and ripples from this across the image. The sand on Mars is from basalt, which is a darkish gray color. The red comes from much smaller dust particles which settle everywhere.

But what are those weird tendril thingies?

In the Martian winter, carbon dioxide freezes out of the air (and you thought it was cold where you are). In the summer, that CO2 sublimates; that is, turns directly from a solid to a gas. When that happens the sand gets disturbed, and falls down the slopes in little channels, which spreads out when it hits the bottom.”

FUTURE LIFE ON EARTH 2,545

What will our future look like? Floating cities, flying to work and traveling in cars capable of operating underwater? And how will technology advance to make use of our natural resources to help feed our growing population in such areas as food, water and electricity?

Timothy Leary - The Man Who Turned on America 313

Timothy Leary was early advocate of LSD experimentation. Leary taught psychology at Harvard and by 1960 was doing experiments with LSD and other hallucinogens, first on prison inmates and then on himself and his friends. LSD was not illegal at the time. In 1960, Allen Ginsberg, supervised by Leary, ingested psilocybin mushrooms, (under the influence of the drug, he phoned Jack Kerouac, identifying himself as God to the telephone operator), and began to spread the word about the new powerful psychedelic drugs.

Just found this blog containing several really good graphic designers, illustrators and painters. Another good place to find inspiration. Another good thing is that they chose to feature one of my recent artwork over there – Thanks!

I Stumbled over this inspiring site called LSDEX.ru with stunning projects – one witch is called “Acid House” by Sarah Applebaum that got my attention.

ELEPHANT DUNG 4,473

There’s an artwork by Chris Ofili in the San Franciso MOMA art museum just now. It includes a sequin-decorated ball of elephant dung, and stands on two more balls that rest on the floor. It’s a pretty nice work.

RUSSIAN ROULETTE – BALLOON STYLE 34

Here’s a clever Russian Roulette toy from a Korean shop — take turns pulling the trigger until one of you drops the hammer on the chamber that pops the balloon.

STILL IN PROCESS 26

Mixing geometric forms with organic. Some are leaving the frame while others remain intact. This one is still in process and far from complete but I wanted to show you a preview. Enjoy!

MODERN FOSSILS 90

Remember the Gameboy Bricks by Gijs Gieskes? The same vibe must have been picked up by Christopher Locke (Chicago, US) as he opened his Modern Fossils Shop with many more peculiar specimens.
